James Gomes, PhD


Dr. James Gomes, PhD is an Affiliate Scientist with Risk Sciences International and an associate professor at the Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences, University of Ottawa.

Dr. Gomes is affiliated with the Institute of Population Health, Institute of Environment, and Center for Advanced Research in Environmental Genomics. He supervises graduate students in the Population Health Program, Epidemiology Program, Cellular and Molecular Medicine and Certificate Program in Population Health Risk Assessment.

Dr. Gomes currently holds the McLaughlin Chair in Environmental Health Risk Assessment and has sat on numerous expert panels for regulatory agencies, including an Expert Panel on Bisphenol A for Health Canada and the World Health Organization, an Expert Task Force on Boron appointed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency on behalf of Health Canada, and a Task Force on Less Common Cancers for the Public Health Agency of Canada.
