Nawal Farhat, PhD

Nawal Farhat is an epidemiologist with recent experience in systematic reviews and large databases. She has provided services to RSI at all stages of systematic reviews that assess the health effects of various exposures.

As part of her PhD research at the University of Ottawa, she analysed a large database comprised of electronic medical records; her research involved assessing the clinical impact of a potential drug-drug interaction between clopidogrel and proton pump inhibitors among patients with cardiovascular diseases.

Nawal has received a MSc in Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa where she studied health effects of exposure to ambient air pollution in 12 Canadian cities.

Previously, Nawal worked at the epidemiological surveillance unit at the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon where she coordinated the implementation of surveillance systems for communicable diseases. She also has prior experience teaching epidemiology and biostatistics courses to undergraduate students.
